Dear friend,
It would be awkward to make a good-faith effort to rally customers to come out and “Vote Way Station” on one weekend and then have a pretty good turnout, but no clear mandate.
The Nov. 1-3 Vote Way Station was a rousing success, not just in terms of in-store, takeout and delivery sales fueled by your orders of delicious BBQ, burgers, salads, craft beer and much more, but most importantly by the show of love and support from the community that we call home.
I say this on behalf of our entire staff, and especially the small but proud team in our kitchen who churned out the votes of big order after big order.
The Way Station team has chosen a vocation of service to others, and our core ethic of friendliness and attention to do right by you is not only the North Star that guides us, we believe it truly means something in this crazy world.
For each and every one of you who turned out, we can’t thank you enough.
Our goal this weekend was to re-energize our customer base and also invite you to help keep us busy through the winter season, by booking Way Station Easy Catering for your upcoming parties, and collaborating with us on events at the restaurant to help support your nonprofit, sports team, school program, birthday celebration, or whatever upcoming milestone we can help make amazing.
How to “Vote Way Station,” whenever you like:
Book Way Station Easy Catering for any upcoming party or event.
Purchase a gift certificate. Holidays are just around the corner!
Host a party, team celebration, school event, or company retreat this winter.
Your vote matters, because restaurants and small businesses like ours are facing a cost and compliance epidemic, and whether you hear much about it or not, there is enough pain going around for those who care to ready commensurate attention.
For the most part, we politely bow out of taking sides on any political debates, locally and nationally. In fact, we want the Way Station to be a place where you leave the weight of the world at the door, to come enjoy food, drink, music and laughter with friends and family, free of political messaging.
Yet we are craving statewide and local policymakers who are ready and willing to take a stand beyond lip service to help small businesses fight the current cost and compliance epidemic in California and in Marin County, and to enable independent restaurants like ours to maintain the dignity to invest more in our staff, our business, and our community.
Our good fortune runs deep. There are a lot of incredible places to eat and drink nearby, and we hope that whenever and wherever you have the means to do so, you continue to support all of these pillars of our neighborhoods. It means a lot. As the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats.
We are reminded this weekend of how blessed we are to live in a community of truly fascinating and big-hearted people who care and who will rally on causes that matter.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Brian Back
